Fred Daly News

The Fred Daly team have romped to a significant first leg victory against Ballybofey & Stranorlar. Ballybofey & Stranorlar from the outset had to concede 2 matches having only turned up with 5 players, so we were 2 matches and 20 holes up out of the traps.

This did not deter the 5 Fortwilliam boys that donned the jumper to do battle. The team was lead out by Gabriel Gribben followed by Niall McDonagh, Garrett McIlroy, Deaglan Pollock and Eamon O’Kane.

None of the boys came under any significant pressure, Garretts opponent rallied for a few holes winning the 8^th and 9^th to get back to 5 down, but as expected Garrett turned the screw and put the match to bed with a 7&5 victory.

Gabriel came home at a canter winning 9&8, Niall 7&6, Deaglan stretched his match out and got in some much needed practice winning by 5&4 and Eamon getting home with a 8&6.

That resulted in a combined score of 7-0 and 56 holes up. I envisage a much changed team for the 2^nd leg
